PHM 3113 : Islamic Input In Pharmacy
This course introduces students to the basic principles of Islamic ethics. It provides an understanding on the social, scientific and health issues from the Islamic perspectives. Students will be able to apply the Islamic ethics in helping to solve social and health problems in the society.
PHM 3123 : Pharmacokinetics & Biopharmaceutics
This course is to provide an understanding on the general principles of drug pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. Introduction to the qualitative and quantitative factors that influence drug disposition. Students will be given the opportunity to appreciate the application of pharmacokinetics principles
in the clinical situation when treating individual patient.
PHM 3133 : Dosage Design I
Introduction to dosage design, basic processes in the production of pharmaceutics, pre-formulation and formulation.
PHM 3142 : Pharmacy Practice III
Dispensing and counselling for in-and-out-patients. Taking medical history from patients and do analysis of symptoms. Taking and measuring of vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate etc. Managing and interpreting simple diagnostic tests such as blood glucose, pregnancy test etc.
PHM 3153 : Clinical Pharmacy I
This course is aimed at exposing to student to basic clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care of patients in the hospital. It includes communication with the patients and other health providers. Exposure to patient’s case records. Interpretation of laboratory results and exposure to other important information that are relevant to pharmaceutical
care.
PHM 3162 : Body System V : Musculo-skeletal System
Anatomy/histology and physiology of the musculo-skeletal system. Common pathology involving the musculo-skeletal system. Pharmacology and medicinal chemistry of drugs that act on the musculo- skeletal system.
PHM 3172 : Biotechnology & Biopharmaceuticals
This course is designed to provide understanding on the biopharmaceutical technologies and processes in drug development and the biotechnology perspective on drug development. It also provides an understanding on
the recent advances in the field of biotechnology, the utilization of this technology in the production of various biopharmaceuticals.
PHM 3012 Research Project - Literature Search
Students will do literature search and collect information on the proposed research topics. Then students will prepare the research proposal and present the proposal to the academic staff for assessment and evaluation.
